Jack McKinley Garren, 79, of Mary Lane, died Feb. 9, 2015 at Carolina Health Care Kings Mountain.
He was born in Mecklenburg Co. on Sept. 10, 1935 a son of the late Frank and Alice Hyatt Garren. Jack was member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church, and retired from Freightliner. Jack was also proudly retired from the Military service with four years in the Navy and eighteen years in the Air Force. He was a full time Pawpaw and enjoyed taking pictures.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Grady Garren and three sisters Viola Whitney, Barbara Weikum , and Ellen Jennings.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Joy Marie Everhart Garren, sons Timothy Wayne Garren (Ladonna), Kings Mountain, Dell Garren (Danielle) of Cherryville, daughter Patricia Lynn Binnix (Andrew) Auburn, AL, Daughter in law Susan Garren of Kings Mountain, eight grandchildren Jacob, Michael, Raymond, Alexis, and Amanda Garren, Annie and Walker Binnix and Joshua Garren, five great grandchildren Madison, Makenzie, Bella, Kimber, and Zoey Garren.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church at 4 PM with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday at the Church from 2:30-3:45 PM and at other times at the home. Full military honors by American Legion Post #100.
