Howard Spencer Morgan, age 70 of Anthony Grove Rd died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. He was born on September 9, 1944 in Bertie County to the late Archie Joel and Rachel Elizabeth Chappell Morgan. Howard was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Stanley Bostitch as a service representative of staple guns. Howard was a member of American Legion and the Optimist Club of Lincolnton. He had an interest in restoring old trucks and cars. He enjoyed building things and doing woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Keith Kerley; sisters, Mabel Jones, Helen Phelps, and Myrtle Harrell; and brothers, Carlton Morgan and Bradford Harrell.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Poston Morgan; son, Joel T. Morgan and wife, Heather of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Rachel Morgan; sisters, Roxie Blanchard of Belvidre, NC, Carolyn Abrams of San Diego, CA, and Peggy Grover and husband, Jim of Black Creek, NC; brother, Wallace Morgan of Colerain, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Stevens and Kelly Whitener officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
