Glenda Monk

Glenda Jenks Monk, age 80 of W. Second St. in Cherryville passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System Cleveland. She was born July 28, 1937 to the late Dwite and Neva Whitworth Jenks. Glenda retired from General Shoe Lace in Lincolnton. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she formerly served as Church Sexton, and was a member of the Women's Group, Bereavement Group, and Fellowship Group. She loved her church, church family, and serving the Lord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Monk and longtime companion, George Hill.

Survivors include her cousins, Greg Shehan and wife, Teresa of Cherryville, Frank Shehan and wife, Becky of Dallas, Dwite Shehan and Marti Piisila of Cherryville, and Dean Jenks Jr. and wife, Jan of Shelby; along with a host of other relatives and close friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 4:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Ben Kifer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:30 to 3:45 PM prior to the service in the Vida Dellinger Parlor.
