George Kenneth “GK” Davis, age 85, of Crouse Road, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Atrium Health – Lincolnton. He was born December 31, 1935, in Gaston County to the late Albert Franklin and Estrea Carpenter Davis.
GK was a veteran of the United States Army reserve. He was an alumnus of North Carolina State University and was a longtime member of the Wolfpack Club. In 1955 he was president of the State 4H club. GK was past president of the Board of Directors of the Dairy Foundation. He was also a member of the Agriculture Foundation at North Carolina State University. He was the recipient the Marvin E. Senger Distinguished Dairy Farmer Award. GK was also a longtime member of Crouse United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Davis, and Harold Davis; sister, Edna Rayfield; and daughter-in-law, Julia Davis.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Diane Springer Davis; sons, Brian Davis, and Ken Davis; daughters, Lisa Davis (Lesli), and Linda Gates (Jason); grandchildren, Cole Davis (Sarah), Catherine Davis, Austin Davis, Sydney Davis, Clayton Gates, and Parker Gates; great-granddaughter, Emerson Davis; and brother-in-law, Craig Springer.
Mr. Davis will lie-in-state from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.
Graveside services sill be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Lander’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Tony Matthews officiating.
