George Alvin Carpenter, 89, of Parker Farm Rd., died Jan. 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Gaston co. on March 9, 1925 a son of the late Mason and Carrie Mauney Carpenter. Alvin was member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a self-employed farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors especially deer hunting.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ann Ramsey Carpenter in 1995, three brothers Koy, Nevin, and Olaf Carpenter, and sisters Lorene Mace, Mazel Smith, and Edith Mauney.
Survivors include his sons Stan Carpenter and wife Katrina of Fallston, Jeff Carpenter and wife Rachel of Vale, and Eddie Carpenter of Lawndale, brother A. D. Carpenter of Dallas, grandchildren Ben Carpenter, Susie Mark, Taylor Meeks, Mason Carpenter, and Sarah Grace Carpenter, and two great grandchildren, Gabriel Mark and Hudson Karina Meeks.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Jan. 24, 2015 at 2 PM at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Malcom Lerch officiating with burial in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from Noon-1:45 PM.
