Frankie "Doodle" Lamar Hayes, age 72, of Dallas-Cherryville Highway passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at CMC-Main. He was born July 29, 1945 in Gaston County to the late Ralph Malcolm and Lois Janette Huss Hayes. He retired from Carolina Freight after 30 years of service as a yard man. Doodle enjoyed deer hunting, NASCAR, cheering for the Duke Blue Devils and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Jerry Hayes.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, "Jo" Josephine Pow Hayes of Cherryville; children, Jody Hayes of Cherryville and Kim Angel and husband, Thad of Waco; grandchildren, Will and Grace Angel; and sister, Barbara Edwards and husband, Harold of Lincolnton.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 3:00 PM at First Wesleyan Church Cherryville with Rev. Mark Poe officiating. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 800 N. Pink St. Cherryville, NC 28021.
