Frankie Jean Houser Godfrey, age 80, formerly of Vale, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at Carolina Care Center. She was born on March 8, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Alvin Ferd and Leary Leon Proctor Houser. She was a lifelong member of North Brook Baptist Church and was very active in church organizations and functions. Frankie served for 24 years in the Lincoln County School System as a teacher's aide and enjoyed tutoring and working with children. She previously spent some time farming and weaving before entering the school system.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Alton Godfrey; sons, Infant James Dewayne Godfrey and Gregory James Godfrey; and brother, Henry James "Jim" Houser.
Survivors include her son, Eric Dean Godfrey of Vale; granddaughter, Brittany Buff (Richard); great-grandson, Max Buff; sister, Linda Houser Cooke (Ronald) of Cherryville; brother, Ashley Ferd Houser (Angela) of Colombia, SC; sister-in-law, Joyle Houser of Vale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wise and Rev. Ray Pennell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at North Brook Baptist Church.
