Frances Leon Jordan Hopkins, age 87 of Vale, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Atrium Health in Lincolnton. She was born October 27, 1934 in Mt. Holly to the late Myrtle Armstrong Phillips and Fred C. Jordan. She attended Mt. Holly High School and graduated from King’s Business College in Charlotte. Frances retired from Bellsouth in Charlotte after 30 years and went on to work another 4 years with Charlotte Observer. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens and had an eye for interior design. Frances loved to entertain and socialize where she graced everyone with her delicious meals and desserts as she loved cooking and baking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Randall Hopkins.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Charles “Doug” Hopkins; children, Chandra Hopkins Cook and husband, Gradie C. Cook, Jr., John Mitchell Hopkins, and Blake Douglas Hopkins; daughter-in-law, Stella Hopkins; grandchildren, Curtis, Brian, Jennifer, Lindsay, Julia, and Seth; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
