Faye Bridges

January 9, 1939 — March 10, 2015

Faye Ella Mathenson Bridges, 76, of Mapleview Lane died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was born on January 9, 1939 in Alexander County to the late William "Buck" Harold and Bonnie Mae Brigman Matheson. She retired from McBess Mill. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and had attended Leonards Fork Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. Faye was a published poet who enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and loved flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen D. Bridges; and seven late siblings.

Survivors include her son, David Allen Bridges of Crouse; daughters, Carolyn Bridges Neal and husband, Ronnie of Crouse, and Susan Bridges Black and husband, John of Bessemer City; brother, Ray Matheson and wife, Elaine of Matthews; sister, Della M. Hyder of Shelby; grandchildren, William Ray Wright, Colt Adam Coffey, Randy Black, and Amy West; and great grandchildren, Penelope West, and Addison Black.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Jaie Warlick, Rev. Darrell Bost, and Rev. Elvis Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
