Evelyn Brown Thomas

Evelyn Louise “Ebbie” Brown Thomas, age 97, of Lincolnton, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Peak Resources of Cherryville. She was born September 22, 1926, in Lincoln County to the late George Monroe and Olive Senter Brown.

Evelyn was a graduate of Charlotte Business School and was active in the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority. Evelyn retired after many years as a paralegal with Ray Bradley and Associates of Charlotte. She was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran of Charlotte, and more recently St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran of Crouse. Evelyn was an avid card player and enjoyed playing with her bridge club. 

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ethel Viola B. Waters, Burgin Senter Brown, George Monroe Brown, Jr., MAJ Ralph Andrew Brown, Nellie Ruth B. Coon, Clyde Ernest Brown, Grace Alene B. Eaker, Hazel May B. Reynolds, and Charlie Ray Brown. 

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Brown Sides, and Doris Brown Reynolds (George); nieces, Kim Baker (Mike), Tracy Barger (Daniel), and numerous other nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 21, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethphage Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lincolnton.

Mrs. Thomas will lie in state from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church.
