Evelyn Biggs

Evelyn Grey "Sam" Bartlett Biggs, age 76, of 129 Cross Creek Drive died May 21, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Evelyn was born in Wilson, N.C. August 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn McCall Bartlett. She retired from Doctors Lake Nursing Home in Orange Park, Fla. after 30 years, as the business office Manager. Each year on the first weekend of March she faithfully took her family to the beach. Evelyn loved to read, plant flowers, the beach and being outdoors with her grandbabies, and made the best fried chicken.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Peterson, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters Donna Beringer, of Cherryville and Darlene Peterson, of Orange Park, Fla. Eight grandchildren, Linda Foley, Cherryville, Amanda Beringer, Maryland, Joseph McGuirt, Green Cove Springs, Fla, Marlena Vassak, Orange Park, Fla., Jackie McGuirt, Green Cove Springs, Fla., Wayne Peterson, III, Orange Park, Fla., Karen Peterson, Orange Park, Fla. and Rita Tebolt, Orange Park, Fla., ten Great Grandchildren, a sister, Jo Anne Bartlett, of Salisbury, three brothers, Joseph Bartlett, Salisbury, Robert Bartlett, Salisbury, and James Bartlett of Pittsboro.

Funeral services will be held at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 4:30 PM with Rev. Malcom Lerch officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3:30 - 4:15 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Carolina Federal Credit Union, 1200 East Church Street, Cherryville, N.C. 28021.
