Essie Elizabeth Fredell Bivens, age 80 of Reepsville Road, Vale, went to be with the Lord, early on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Atrium Health in Lincolnton. Essie was born October 2, 1943, in Rutherford County to the late William Fredell and Bessie Self Fredell. She worked for many years as an advocate at Amy’s House in Lincolnton. She also owned a flower shop, Sweet Expressions, for several years, where her passion for flowers was able to shine through her work. Essie loved to shop at the thrift stores and go fishing any chance she got. Essie was a great cook and enjoyed the time she spent in the kitchen; her family cherished the meals she made for them, especially her Thanksgiving dressing. She loved her grandkids more than anything else.
In addition to her parents, Essie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby “Bob” Bivens.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie Miller, Donna Clark (Bam), Darlene Godfrey (Lee), David Bivens (Jeannie), Denise Bivens, and Derrick Bivens (Shannon); 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
