Ernest Carpenter

Ernest Hugh Carpenter, Jr. age 70, of Bessemer City, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence.  He was born May 24, 1952 to the late Ernest Hugh Carpenter, Sr. and Jean Bivens Carpenter.  Ernest was a United States Army Veteran and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed panning for gold and gardening.  Ernest was also an avid fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Carpenter.

Survivors include his sister, Libby Wyont; brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Sandy Carpenter; stepson, Michael Humphries; nephews and niece, Shane Wyont, Chris Wyont, and Emma Heavner; aunt and uncle, Pat and Charles Smith.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Malcolm Lerch officiating.  Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
