Ernest Carpenter

Ernest Eugene Carpenter, 75, of Harrillson Rd., died July 14, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on February 17, 1940, son to the late James Fitzhue and Delia Kathleen Leonhardt Carpenter. Ernest was a talented and artistic floral designer having owned flower stores in Lincolnton, Cherryville, Fallston and Casar. His works were displayed throughout the country, including the White House and the Biltmore House. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother; Marshall Carpenter, and a sister; Bertie "Polly" Lafoy.

He was survived by a sister; Betty Jo Carpenter and husband; Perry Dean of Cherryville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2015 at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services at 3 PM with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove UMC Cemetery in Crouse, NC. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 2:00-2:45 PM and at other times at the home of Betty and Dean Carpenter, Delview Rd., Cherryville.
