Edna Nathlee Galloway Hamm, 89 of 604 St. Mark's Church Rd., died July 15, 2013 at her residence in Bessemer City.
Mrs. Hamm was born on May 12, 1924 in Transylvania County a daughter of the late Joseph Berry and Laura Landreth Galloway. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Edna enjoyed baking cakes and embroidering pillowcases. She had a deep loved for reading.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilmore Boyd Hamm; brothers, Marshall, Ira, Harry, Edgar "Doc", and Pat Galloway; sisters, Ruth Thrift, Georgia Glover, and Ettalee Galloway; infant granddaughter, April Witherspoon; and a special friend, Alma Beam.
Survivors include her two sons, Ronald Boyd Hamm (Nancy) of Lake Waccamaw, NC, and Scott Berry Hamm (Cathey Lackey) of Cherryville; three daughters, Linda Witherspoon (Clyde "Yates") of Cherryville, Janet Scarborough (David) of Avon, NC, and Thelda Wood (Fabian Sandobal) of Lincolnton; two sisters, Layree Wilburn of Blackstone, VA, and Maxie Wallace of Randleman, NC; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Robbins and Rev. Keith Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
