Dwight Dewitt Eaker, age 92, of George Brown Road, Crouse died October 24, 2014 at Peak Resources in Cherryville. He was born March 10, 1922 in Lincoln County a son of the late John and Laura Bingham Eaker. Dwight was a farmer, producing tomatoes and apples. He took great pride in growing the best tomatoes in Lincoln County. Dwight worked at Wilmington Shipyard during WWII, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Alene Brown Eaker in 2007, one late brother Quentin Eaker and three sisters, Jesse E. Howell, Hazel E. Harrelson and Kay E. Sain.
Survivors include three sons, Larry D. Eaker (Barbara) of Denver, Richard W. Eaker (Sue) of Matthews, Donald S. Eaker (Susan) of Charlotte, one daughter Freda E. Stamey (Mackey) of Lincolnton. Ten grandchildren, Tony Hallman (Diane), Lara E. Rinehardt (Chip), Amy H Gragg (Rodney), Julie E. Gardner (Brad), Wayne Eaker, Kathryn Eaker (Mark Hamrick), Jonathan Eaker, Brandon Eaker, J.T. Eaker (Lisa) and Joey Stamey and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held October 28, 2014 at 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services October, 27, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and at other times at the home of Freda and Mackey Stamey, Boyd Ave., Lincolnton.
