Dora Eaker

Dora Ellen Eaker, 90, of Bess Chapel Rd., died Saturday Feb. 14, 2015 at Carolina Health Care-Lincoln. She was born in Gaston Co. on Feb. 25, 1924 a daughter of the late Blair and Essie Hoyle Dellinger.

Dora Ellen was a longtime member of Bethlehem United Methodist where she was in charge of the bereavement meals, and retired manager of North Brook Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking and reading Danielle Steele novels and found great pleasure in bird watching

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Doris Glenn Eaker, son Blair Eaker, and a brother Hoyle Dellinger.

Survivors include her children Norris Eaker and wife Burlene of Cherryville, and Frances Norkett of Cherryville, granddaughter Alisa Eaker of Cherryville, brother Carl "Boozie" Dellinger and wife Rachel of Cherryville, a sister-in-law Joyce Dellinger of Spruce Pine, and her dog Sammy.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 PM at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Nicholas Rochester and Rev. Roy Byers officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 1:30-2:45pm and at other times at the home.
