Derek Sellers

Derek Michael Sellers, age 45 of Cherryville, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  He was born January 10, 1978 in Gaston County to Michael and Linda Brittain Sellers.  Derek was a 1996 graduate of Cherryville High School.  He worked for around 25 years on the grill for Cottons Seafood.  He enjoyed watching wrestling and spending time with his dog.  Derek was a quiet man with a sweet spirit who was liked by all. 

Derek is survived by his parents, Michael and Linda Sellers; his dog, Ozzy; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.D. and Nell Sellers and Mr. and Mrs. Hillard Brittain.

He will lie-in-state Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Mr. Seth Farris officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
