Deborah Whitworth Beck

Deborah Anna Whitworth Beck, age 69, of Newland, passed away August 16, 2024, at Life Care Center in Banner Elk. She was born May 8, 1955, in Lincoln County to the late Russell Whitworth and Ava Lea Ballard. 

Debbie was a warm and loving wife and grandmother. She worked at Grandfather Mountain and adored bears; once she even held a baby bear named Flower. Debbie was an avid NASCAR fan and could often be found cheering on her favorite driver, Kevin Harvick.

In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her stepson, Jonathan Beck.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jerry Wayne Beck; daughter, Stephanie Lauren Byrd; stepdaughter, Melissa Marie Shanckle; sister, Diane Clark; nieces, Tiffany Molesky, and Trina Dellinger; and grandson, James “Cordae” Jackson.
