Darril Sigmon

Darril Tillman Sigmon, age 80 of Johnson Dr. passed away peacefully Monday, March 20, 2017 at Peak Resources surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1936 in Gaston County to the late Ben Tillman and Bonnie Mae Ford Sigmon. Darril was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was an Elder of the church, member of the Men's Bible Class, assisted with the Youth Club, and was on the C.A.R.E. team. He retired after 39 years as a long line driver for Carolina Freight and was a member of the Teamsters. He was also a member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 AF&AM. Darril was an avid sports fan and pulled for the Atlanta Braves and North Carolina Tarheels. He enjoyed wood working and loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sarah Parker Sigmon; children, Julia Chapman and husband, Randy, Bengy Sigmon and wife, Lisa, and Melinda Beam and husband, Ed; grandchildren, Josh Chapman (Charity), Aaron Chapman, Daniel Chapman (Krystal), Nikki Gardner (Adam), Seth Sigmon, Jordan Bingham (Brittany), and Zach Bingham (Brittany); thirteen great grandchildren, Mac, Madie, Sebastian, Kaleb, Kelsi, Silver, Matthew, Layla, Tristin, Jackson, Addi, Madelynn, and Caroline; special "brothers," Billy Frank and Martel Sigmon, Jim Howell, and Rick Ford; numerous cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services and at other times at the home, 1200 Johnson Dr.
