Cindy Matheson Bridges

Cynthia Matheson (Bridges), age 49 of Bessemer City, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at her residence.  She was born January 20, 1974 in Cleveland County to the late Harold and Debbie Flowers Matheson.  She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and attended Westview Baptist Church.  She enjoyed trips to the beach and being in the sun.  Cindy loved her family and was the greatest “GiGi” to her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Addison Carpenter; and brother, Robie Matheson.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lane and Alexandra Carpenter; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Dylan Cook; grandchildren, Berkley, Jackson, and Myles; father of her children and significant other, Chad Carpenter; aunts and uncles, Janice and Roy Barker, Donna Hall, Sandy and Lee Lynn, Marvin and Aileen Matheson; special cousin and best friend, Shannon McCloskey; former husband, Rodney Bridges; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Neely and Rev. Scott Rudisill officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 to 6:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

A private graveside service will be held at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
