Collin Jacob Hovis, 15, of Bridle Ct., died January 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Gaston County on February 28, 2000, a son of Stephen Dean Hovis and wife, Stephanie of Charlotte and Audrey Sapp Fishman and husband, Andy of Durham. He was a sophomore at Hopewell High School with hopes to pursue the engineering field, specializing in earthquake proof structures. He enjoyed video gaming, skateboarding, listening to music and spending time with his friends. He loved being around his dogs, Summer and Karma and especially his little brother, Casey.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings, Casey Grant Hovis and Keaton and Charlotte Fishman; paternal grandparents, Greta and Paul Hovis of Mt. Holly; Maternal Grandfather, Bill Sapp of Monroe; maternal Great-Grandmother, Nancy Sapp of Mocksville; and Grandmother, Beverly Akoury.
A Celebration of Collins life will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at Assurance United Methodist Church, 9700 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Huntersville, NC at 7:30 PM. Rev. Chris Westmoreland and Rev. Daniel Corpening will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 5:30PM-7:15PM. Burial will be private.
