Clarence Melton Self, age 97 of Oak St. died Friday, September 11, 2015 at Wendover Hospice House. He was born on June 9, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late Henry and Nancy Ivester Self. Clarence was a longtime member and the oldest member of Second Baptist Church. He loved going on trips with the Happy Hearts Club and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dan Shull; and siblings, Vennie Pruitt, Eva Self, Etta Upton, Stella Hoyle, Lester Self, and Marshel Self.
Survivors include his daughter, Loretta S. Shull of Waco; grandsons, Richard Shull and wife, Wanda of Shelby and Buck Shull and wife, Angel of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; great grandchildren, Dillion Shull, Brandon Shull, Colt Shull, Alex Davis, and Emily Morelock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
