Chranson Beam, age 79, of Weaver Street, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late Henry Bryan and Juanita Wehunt Beam. He attended Oak Ridge Military School where he was a Golden Glove Boxer and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from East Carolina University. He was a teacher and football coach at Asbury School in Lincolnton. He was also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Contractor.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Peggy Carpenter Beam; daughter, Dawn Mauney (Mark) of Cherryville; son, Todd Beam (Lonnia) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Matthew Beam (Kathryn) of Concord, Joshua Mauney of Cherryville, and Drew Mauney of Cherryville; and brothers, Warren "Buddy" Beam (Florence) of Lincolnton, Bryan Beam Jr. (Kay) and Sam Beam (Martha Hendrick) of Cherryville.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 4:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Eric Childers and Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:45 PM in the Vida Dellinger Parlor at St. John's Lutheran Church.
