Charles Larry “Charlie” Absher, age 65, of Waco, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his residence.  He was born June 11, 1958 in Madison County, Indiana.  Charlie was the son of the late Michael Clayton and Alpha Mae Carpenter Absher. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and retired from truck driving.  Charlie enjoyed playing chess and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was extremely gifted when it came to music.   He could play almost anything and was even teaching himself to read music.  Music was a true passion of his and he enjoyed sharing his gift with others.

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy Absher; daughter, Elizabeth Huss (Charles Boyle); sons, George “Kornbread” Absher and Jesse Absher; grandchildren, David, Cameron, Connor, Beth, Charlie, Spencer, Sierra, and Sage; and great granddaughter, Vera Rose.

 

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 2:00 PM at Royal Priesthood Biker Church in Shelby with his son, George “Kornbread” Absher officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Home Society of NC, 604 Meadow St. Greensboro, NC 27405.
