Charles Brown

Charles William Brown, age 82 of Cherryville, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 peacefully in his home.  He was born April 16, 1940 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late Garland Odell and Desmer Wright Brown.  Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was a member of Cherryville American Legion Post #100, served on the Honor Guard, and was a service officer for many years.  He was also a member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M. and an Oasis Shriner. Charlie retired after 33 years of truck driving with Carolina Freight Carriers and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  He volunteered as an EMT for 20 plus years with Cherryville Rescue Squad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Robinson Brown; grandson, Justin Wright; brother, Ted Brown; and sister, Vickie Randall.

Survivors include his son, Curt Brown and wife, Jean; daughter, Lynn Ward; grandchildren, Jeremy Wright, Courtney Brown, and Bailey Lail; great-grandchildren, Kameron Wright and Nevaeh Wright; siblings, Mary Sue Schultz, Lucy Hartman (Steve), Rita Wilson (Ken), Mickey Brown (Linda), and Randy Brown (Vickie); sisters-in-law, Dottie Brown and Kay Moss; brothers-in-law, Charles Schultz, Roger Randall, Mike Robinson (Wanda), and Tony Robinson (Brenda); numerous nieces and nephews; and furbaby, Tiger.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 26, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Huss and Rev. Wayne Key officiating.  Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard and Masonic Rites by Cherryville Lodge #505 A.F.&A.M.
