Carolyn Deveney Mayhew

Carolyn Jeanette Deveney Mayhew, age 81, of Lincolnton, passed away October 7, 2024, at the Robin Johnson House. Carolyn was born October 31, 1942, to the late Lester Lee and Maggie Alda Correll Deveney. Carolyn enjoyed listening to country music and loved going to the mountains. Her favorite pastime was shopping.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Deveney; granddaughter, Stephanie Mayhew, and son-in-law, Stacy Powell.

Left to cherish her memory is her children, Deborah Beaver, Steven Mayhew (Tammy), Randy Mayhew, and Kimberly Powell; grandchildren, Mandy Schmitt (Craig), Brittany Sisk (Justin), and Jessica Carpenter (David); and great-grandchildren, Eden Schmitt, Ollie Schmitt, Carley Carpenter, and Lauri Carpenter.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Lynn Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Dustin Mace officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
