Carolyn Beam

June 7, 1934 — April 23, 2014

Carolyn Joy Heafner Beam, age 79, of Cherryville, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Kings Mountain Hospice House after a five year courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born on June 7, 1934 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey and Carolyn Douthit Heafner. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Carolyn's passion was country music and songwriting, and in her younger years she worked on the radio with WLON and WCSL. She then worked for Carolina Freight and retired from Dispatching with Gaston County and Cherryville Police Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Dewey
Heafner, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kern J. Beam of the home; sons, Chris Beam (Jean) of Navarre, Fla, Allen Beam (Carole) of Apex, NC, and Steve Beam (Joanne) of Charlotte, NC; brother, John Heafner (Cathy) of Haw River, NC; grandsons, James Beam of Mobile, AL, Andrew and Max Beam of Apex, NC, and Ryan Beam of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Christopher L. Beam and Caley Rose Beam of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Warden Woodard, special friends Pastor Tom and Faye Hartis, and to the staff of Summit Place, Kings Mountain Hospice House, and
Home Instead for their love and care given to the Beam family.

Funeral Services will held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Eric Childers and Rev. Tom Hartis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services in Cherryville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, PO Box 100, Cherryville, NC 28021 or to Kings Mountain Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd, Kings Mtn. NC 28086.
