Candi Melton

Candice Leigh Hamrick Melton, age 46 of E. Main St. passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at her residence. Candi was born June 27, 1971 in Gaston County to Daniel E. Hamrick Sr. and Vicki Stewart Hamrick of Cherryville. She was formerly employed at Walmart. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling. Her favorite place was to be out on the beach. Candi was proud of her big family and her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Tom and Johnnie Hamrick and Ray Stewart; great grandmother, Ida Mae Holbrook; and uncle, Thomas Hamrick Jr.

In addition to her parents, Daniel and Vicki Hamrick, she is survived by her best friend and companion, Wesley Elswick; her children, Kirstie Arnold (Matt), Megan Osment (Caleb Wilhem), Tyler Osment (Mary McSwain), Allen-Mikel Ramsey (Carley Jenkins), and Kira Ramsey (Ty Houser); step-son, Dayton Elswick (Heidi Townsend); grandmother, Violet Stewart Davis; brother, Daniel Hamrick Jr. (Misty); sister, Erin Baugham (Travis Brackett); grandchildren, Trinity, Kylie, Kenzie, Matthew, Amber, Alicia, Christopher, Kensley, Alani, Leighton, Anna, and Piper; great grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew; nephews, Gage Baugham and Weslee Brackett; and sisters-in-law, Loretta Manning, Ada Ledsome, Wanda Arnold, and Doris Cox.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 to 1:15 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
