Calvin Owensby, Sr.

Calvin Lee Owensby, Sr., age 69, of Old Post Rd. Cherryville, passed away Friday December 31, 2021 at Testa Family Hospice. He was born September 3, 1952 in Gaston County to the late Leonard Owensby and the late Betty Jo Owensby-Baldock.

Calvin was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed being outdoors and playing softball. He also loved his family, especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Owensby, Jr.; grandson, Carson Owensby; and sister, Donna Maney.

Left to cherish his memory is his companion, Vickie Nicholson Capps; stepdaughter, Kim Harvley (Freddy); siblings, Janice Auten, Jill Dominy (Ronnie), and Thomas Baldock (Roni); grandchildren, Chad Owensby (Sara), Carter Owensby, Corbin Owensby, Colton Harvley, and Abigail Harvley.

To celebrate Calvin’s life, his family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday January 5, 2022 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services, Cherryville. Social distancing and face coverings are encouraged.

Burial will be private.
