Billy (Bill) Frank Sigmon died October 1, 2019 at Wendover of Shelby, NC. Bill was born in Cherryville, August 23, 1937; he was a son of the late Rufus Eugene and Vida Mauney Sigmon. He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was bestowed the honor of Elder Emeritus in 2010, served on various committees, was on the C.A.R.E. visitation team, cooked for Presbyterian Men’s monthly meetings, Wednesday night youth club, and other congregational meals. Bill was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and sang in the Church Choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Boyd Sigmon, three brothers, J.T. Sigmon, Harold Sigmon and Paul Sigmon; three sisters, Elsie Sigmon, Christine Sigmon Brown and Meredith Sigmon Moore; sister-in-laws Pat Sigmon and Deanne Sigmon, Brenda Holland, Scharlene Reynolds, brother-in-law Gary Moore, two nieces, Suzanne Sigmon and Meleia Garcia; and two nephews, Jeff Brown and Scott Faulkenbury and brother Darril Sigmon.
Bill is survived by his daughters and son- in-laws Myra and Roy Farnsworth, Sandy and David Heafner. Three grandchildren Meggan Harrelson and Seth, Logan Farnsworth and Dylan Heafner. He is also survived by Sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Larry Schubert of Charlotte, brothers and sisters-in-law, Martel Sigmon, Tim and Becky Sigmon, all of Cherryville, Dennis Sigmon, Weatherford, Texas, Jimmie Sigmon of Lincolnton, sisters-in-law Marie Sigmon, Dot Sigmon, Allie Faulkenbury, Kay Stewart and Brother-in-law Bill Holland and numerous nieces and nephews. Long time friend Butch Sneed of Wilmington, N.C.
The funeral will be Friday October 4, 2019 First Presbyterian Church, Cherryville, at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Billy T. Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Cherryville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday October 3, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM at Carpenter Porter Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cherryville and other times at the home of Roy & Myra Farnsworth.
