Bazie Smith

Bazie Mabe Smith, age 91 passed peacefully into heaven on Sunday morning, February 13, 2022 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Bazie was born to the late Robert Mabe and Dora Joyce Mabe.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Smith, daughter Wanda Smith, and son-in-law Louis Brown. Bazie worked for over 37 years at Hanes Hosiery. Following her retirement she worked at Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes.  She was a longtime member of Danbury Baptist Church, loved reading, journaling, and working in her yard.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda Brown of Germanton, Wilma Tedder of Walnut Cove (Larry), Rhonda Hall of Shelby (Ricky); Son, Jim Smith of Winston Salem, and Son-in-law EJ Smith of TN. Grandchildren: Melissa Brown of Germanton, Tammy Collins of Pensacola, FL (Eric), Mark Brown of Sumter, SC (Trina), Jason Tedder of Mocksville (Angie) Eric Smith of Nashville, TN (Ashli),Roby Smith of Winston Salem (Mechelle), Miranda Hall of Westfield (Jason), Morgan Randall of Shelby (Zach), Haden Smith of Lewisville, Lexy Blake of Yadkinville (Rob), Hannah Downs of Lewisville (Noel)  Bazie was also blessed with 34 great-grandchildren. Sisters: Martha Joyce, Annie Bennett, Roxie Cromer (Dec.),Stella Stephens (Dec.), Ola Fagg (Dec.), Lear Dyson (Dec.),Thelma Cook (Dec.) Mattie Sue Mabe (Dec.), and Sister-in-law Maggie Smith; Brothers, Willis Mabe (Dec.), Ulus Mabe (Dec.), and Paul Mabe (Dec.)

The family wishes to thank caregivers Tina Abbott, Nell Crissman, and Brenda Woolford, and the wonderful supportive staff at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1:00pm at Danbury Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Paschal officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 to 12:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Mabe family cemetery.
