Barbara Smith

Barbara Ann Smith, 73, of Cherryville NC, passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2022 at Wendover Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born in Lincoln County to the late Cramer and Mary Brooks Slaughter.

Barbara was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting. She loved sharing her home with her sister Kathy and her dog Oscar along with many outdoor pets. She was quick to laugh and cherished spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Terry Thalas Smith; brothers, Jake Slaughter and Cramer “Buddy” Slaughter; sisters, Jane Carpenter and Evon McKinney.

Barbara was a loving mother of two boys and is survived by those sons, Jimmy J. Smith and wife Wendy, and James R. Smith; sisters, Carolyn Lail and Kathy Smith; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Mitchell Smith and wife Logan, and Terry Holmes; and great-granddaughter, Evelynn Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Monday, March 21, 2022 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Ricky Sigmon officiating.

Burial will be private.
