Barbara Hensley

Barbara Alice Hollifield Hensley, age 66 of Wright Circle passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Testa Family Hospice House. She was born on November 12, 1949 in Lincoln County to the late Bergan and Nellie Stroupe Hollifield. She was a very talented and artistic woman. She worked as a seamstress, a painter, and an esthetician. She was a homemaker for most of her life and also caregiver for her mother. Barbara loved to cook, and had several award winning recipes. She loved to create and craft. She will be remembered for her bright smile and her laughter. Barbara loved to sew and make beautiful jewelry and clothing for her family. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Grady Hensley; and brothers, Ben Hollifield and Mike Hollifield.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Shellie Hensley Vickers and husband, Steven of Kings Mountain; siblings, Wayne Hollifield and wife, Shirley of Lincolnton, Tony Hollifield of Elko, Nevada, Roger Hollifield and wife, Sue of Cherryville, Norma "Decia" Winkler of Granite Falls, Kaye Craven and husband, Charlie of Charlotte, and Nora McIntyre of Cherryville; sister-in-law, Marsha Hollifield of Cherryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
