Barbara Edwards

Barbara 'Dabo' Hayes Edwards, age 77, of Heavner Rd. passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at CMC - Lincoln. She was born March 8, 1940 in Gaston County to the late Ralph 'Mutt' Malcolm and Lois Janette Huss Hayes. She was the canteen supervisor at Timken and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Barbara cherished family and took pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all for life. She was kind and compassionate and enjoyed gardening and yard work.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Ralph 'Mutt' Jerry Hayes and Frankie 'Doodle' Hayes.

She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Edwards of Lincolnton; children, Terry Walker and companion Stephanie of Lincolnton, Todd Walker and Julie of Taylorsville and Tonda Walker Slaughter and William of Newton; Stepsons, Harold Edwards II and Carrie of Westfield, IN., Douglas Edwards and Paige of Lincolnton and Michael Edwards of Hickory; eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and friends, Rose Holt, Joette Ross, Dare Hovis and Doris Freeman.

A Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 12:45 PM at the church.
