Ava Howell

Ava Pratt Dover Howell, age 96 of Carolina Care Center went home to heaven March 8, 2018. She was born May 25, 1921 to the late Ralph and Mary Dover. She was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church. Ava loved sewing, traveling, gardening, and was a proud member of Bess Chapel Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by husband, Robert Howell; son-in-law, Dwight McSwain; brothers, George Dover, Todd Dover, and Frank Dover; and sisters, Mary Newton and Ann Beard.

Survivors include her daughters, Jane Mauney (Bill) and Melba McSwain; grandchildren, Gale Gilbert, Joy Peterson, Richard McSwain, and Karen Prevatte; great grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Ryan, Will, and Erik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, from 1:30 to 2:15 PM followed by funeral services Sunday at 2:30 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
