Allen Austin

Allen Cranford Austin, age 62 of Charlotte passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 in Johnstown.
Born February 4, 1956 in Mecklenburg County to the late Locke and Kathleen Cranford Austin, he grew up passionately playing any sport where he was passed the ball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roaming the woods and streets in their neighborhood of Crater Park. Allen went to North Mecklenburg High, and eventually worked his way into a job at Sungard where he easily mastered new technology running mainframes until 2011.

Allen's enjoyment of simple pleasures didn't change much throughout his life. A day at the lake, an afternoon at his son's ball games, a mountain day trip with his wife gave way to the long list of his current loves: a tall cup of coffee, a Panthers win, a big grin from his grand babies, a call from his kids,
and a homemade egg custard or pound cake. If he could spend the day with his wife sharing an old western movie, reading a thriller, or appreciating nature he was good to go. Allen intrinsically believed in the deep rooted goodness of people. After a five minute conversation everyone was a friend and a real good guy, and to be a friend to Allen meant to know authentic camaraderie.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson, Beydn Swink.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Dellinger Austin; son, Daniel Austin and wife, Summer of Charlotte; daughter, Annie Swink and husband, Josh of NY; grandchildren, Lochlan, Scarlett, Caleb, Layla, Maggie, and Jonas; siblings, Fredrick Austin and wife, Cindy and Marianne Smith and husband,
Earnie.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Ken Gibson and Rev. David Brown officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 until 6:45 PM at the funeral home. The burial will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Dellinger Family Cemetery.
