Albert Homesley

March 25, 1935 — July 7, 2017

Albert Boyd Homesley, 82, of South Pink St., died July 7, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Homesley was born March 25, 1935 in Gaston County to the late Albert Herbert and Novella Adams Homesley. He retired as Chief of the Gaston County Rural Police with 30 years of service. He faithfully served his country in the US Navy during Korea and was a member of American Legion Post #100. He also was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and faithful member. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M. He found great pleasure in the outdoors, especially fishing with his grandchildren and friends. He could always be found doing yard work, gardening or watching Nascar.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Burchfield Homesley; his three children, Albert Benjamin Homesley of Greenville, SC, Angela Homesley Whitworth and husband, Hoke, and Jannie Homesley Smith of Cherryville, N.C., six grandchildren and one great grandson: Hoke Whitworth Jr., wife, Traci and son, Brady Cole, John Henry Whitworth, Cameron and Carter Smith, Blair and Carmen Homesley; and sister, Doris Homesley Chronister.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 3 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:30 to 2:45 PM, prior to the service. Military Honors by American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard.
